Greetings from Canadian Principal

Sincerely,

Brent Godovitz

Dear parents, staff, students, and community of Boren-Sino Canadian School,

I am Brent Godovitz, and I am the incoming principal at Boren-Sino. To start, over my career, I have been in a variety of educational and leadership positions in South Korea, Egypt, and Trinidad and Tobago. It is with a great deal of experience and expertise in international education that I come to Boren School. I believe in helping to build and maintain a school community that is student-centered, where together we build students into global citizens. Students should be engaged in learning but work hard to achieve their goals. It is a goal of Boren-Sino to continue being one of the best schools in Guangdong province, so your continued support is appreciated.

One of my predominant traits, and a trait that is an expectation of those enrolled in Boren-Sino, is care. As the principal, I must care about many different aspects of the school. But the thing that I care most about is the students. I would like students to be accountable for their own learning with it being accessible to them. I would also like to make it clear that education is not at odds with your child, and so your child should not be at odds with education. Working together in a caring environment, where teaching professionals are trusted, and having clear and open communication will ensure the success of students and the school community alike. Through a commitment to care, students will be successful during their time at Boren-Sino.

To continue, student-centered learning is the main model at Boren School. Using the Ontario curriculum and the standards held up by the Canadian education system, student success is pertinent. By having different levels and an accessible curriculum, students will learn effectively in a variety of subject areas. It is my belief that students will be most successful when their mental health is taken into consideration, so at Boren-Sino, we have a number of extracurricular activities and emotional intelligence checks and events throughout the year. We also train students to have a strong foundation in English language and strong application skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will abide by their commitments to their studies and work to enable success in completing the required courses and obtaining the Ontario high school diploma (OSSD).

If there are any questions, comments, concerns, or considerations, please contact me. I am looking forward to a great tenure at the school with continued excellence and success.
